Since Canmore is so close to Calgary, it makes for a great short bike ride when you don't want to be travelling for many hours.

I've loved Canmore since the first time I visited the Rockies back in 2005 and I love to go back to certain places. Here are my favorites.

1) The Great Canadian Dollar Store (820 Main Street)

This place has the most eclectic merchandise selection ever. All the strange things you don't find anywhere else, are there. This time we even found a wine aereator, like the expensive ones you can find in specialty stores.

2) Shoes T'Boot (#105 - 713 Main St)

For a shoe lover, this place is gold. No, I don't think they carry Manolos or the like, but the models they carry are eclectic, steampunk, glam cowboy, very 19th century. They also carry regular hiking boots, after all it's Canmore, but I just love to go and check all the crazy styles I would totally buy if I didn't live in Calgary (and it's casual atmosphere)

 3) Cafe Books (100-826 Main Street)

How I love visiting this book store... Old fashioned, with helpful people who actually read, with lots of notebooks, pens and bookmarks in every shape, size and color. Don't forget to visit downstairs with a fantastic selection (and staging) of culinary books that will make you feel in Europe.

4) Rocky Mountain Soap (820 8 St)

I never buy anything here but I always go inside to smell and touch and see the fantastic displays. I love to see what new concoction they came up with time.

5) Chapter Two Tea Room (behind Cafe Books)

This is my latest discovery. a wonderful, cozy and charming tea room, like grandma's, surrounded by books, macarrons and scons to enjoy while sipping tea. I loved every corner of it

6) The coolest new addition; PD3 by Blake (806 Main Street)

It's a double decker bus!! It's a restaurant! It's a food truck! It's fully licensed! It's amazing! It's the coolest thing EVER.

Some times I wish we could live in Canmore. Fortunately it's close enough and so cool that it grants regular visits.
